INT. SECRET UNDERGROUND LAB - 12:04PM
Large, grey machines line the walls. Colorful indicator lights flicker. A rats nest of buzzing cables strung floor to ceiling. Radiation warning signs decorate the space.
A MYSTERIOUS MAN, 30's, coif of blonde hair, wears an orange lab coat and black goggles. He wrestles with a stubborn valve handle. It won't budge.
The Mysterious Man loses patience, lands a practiced karate kick on the valve handle. It turns millimeters.
He lands a final kick and the vavle spins out of control. Orange steam blasts out.An alarm KLAXON sounds.
The Mysterious Man races to a gauge on one of the machines. The indicator pinned in the red. A radioactive warning light blinks furiously.
BOOM! A flash of intense, ORANGE LIGHT envelopes the Mysterious Man.
EXT. HOLLYWOOD BLVD - LOS ANGELES - 9:04AM
War torn. Crumbled buildings. Cars turned on their sides.
In the hills above, a damaged Hollywood Sign and the famed Griffith Observatory.
CALVIN CARSON, 30's dark hair, tanned skin, chisled jaw. A handsome, leading man-type stands in front of a camera filming a newsreel.
SNAP! Calvin turns to see... a shockwave of RED LIGHT bursts from the ground beneath the Hollywood Sign. He tries to run. Too late. It washes over him.
EXT. HORSE RACKING TRACK - LOUISVILLE - 12:04PM
Hot WHITE LIGHT shoots from the Club House.
PEOPLE and HORSES run in all directions.
LIEUTENANT ANNABELLA LI, late 20's, approaches the Club House. She is dressed in metal, radiation-shielding armor.
She extends a GLOWING PROBE toward the light.
SIZZLE! The light narrows into a concentrated beam, flows into the probe.
Her armor beings to glow, intensifying into a burning sphere, swallowing her up.
INT. SEISMOLOGY LAB - NASHVILLE - 11:04AM
DR. TAMARA SOLUN, early 30's, examines a seismograph. Her eyebrows furrow.
A LOUD RUMBLING and the ground begins to shake.
The needle on the seismograph dances in a frenzy.
CRACK! the ground beneath her opens. Clouds of YELLOW, radiation-tainted steam billow up from the fissure.
She runs for the door. Columns of rock spring up, block her path.
Her screams are muffled as she is consumed by the earth and the yellow fog.
